Charity

From the Studio Floor - Cambridge Guildhall

From the Studio Floor has supported various charities and good causes including Cam Sight Charity for the Blind, Children in Need, Middlemore Foundation, New Zealand National Burns Centre and Kidz First Hospital Auckland, with at least 30%+ of the proceeds from all art sold donated to charity. As well as this, it has raised awareness for local charities and the amazing impact they have on the community, as well as providing much needed to support and platforms for local artists to showcase their work.

For the past three years, the Cambridge exhibitions have been supporting Cam Sight, based in Cambridge and Chatteris, who offer advice, information and practical support to children, young people and adults with a visual impairment in Cambridgeshire. Cam Sight provides emotional support and counselling with monthly social groups across Cambridgeshire offering information and advice, excursions and home visits from the community team and volunteers, providing help and company. Its two Low Vision Centres display and demonstrate a wide range of equipment from magnifiers to talking clocks and provide advice and training on specialist and mainstream technology. Groups for pre-school children, 6 to 12 year olds and teenagers provide fun, skills and opportunities for parents/carers to gain support and meet each other.

From the Studio Floor provides a great opportunity for visually impaired artists to exhibit their work, helping Cam Sight to engage further with schools, businesses and the wider community in raising the profile of the work of the charity.
